2008 Public Health Preparedness Summit to Highlight Key Issues, Resources, and Evidence-Based Approaches to Public Health Emergency Preparedness Planning, Response, and Recovery

Atlanta, GA – Public health preparedness professionals nationwide will convene February 19-22 in Atlanta for the 3rd annual Public Health Preparedness Summit. Hailed as a “can’t miss” event for public health and emergency preparedness professionals, this year’s agenda is jam-packed with more than 200 workshops, interactive sessions, posters, and round table discussions designed to enhance knowledge, increase professional networks, and leave participants inspired. Leading experts in public health preparedness will address the evolution and growing threat of global infectious diseases and subsequent challenges faced by local and federal public health practitioners and emergency responders. Highlights include the introduction of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) inaugural state public health emergency preparedness report, “Public Health Preparedness: Mobilizing State by State”; opening remarks by CDC Director, Julie Gerberding, MD, MPH; and a book signing by Richard Preston, PhD, critically acclaimed author of “The Hot Zone.” Summit participants will have the opportunity to meet face-to-face with more than 80 exhibitors showcasing products, resources, and training opportunities to advance the practice of public health emergency preparedness.
