Alexeter Adds BioDetect Orthopox Rapid Test

Alexeter is pleased to announce availability of the Bio Detect™ Orthopox test, expanding our rapid field analysis capability to 8 biological warfare agents, the most comprehensive in the industry.

The BioDetect Orthopox testentifies select viruses in the Orthopox family, of which Variola major (the causative agent for smallpox) is of greatest concern.

BioDetect tests combined with either the Guardian or Defender TSR Readers give rapid, accurate and archived results.  Designed to run in parallel, all eight tests can be completed in less than 40 minutes with 15 minutes to first report.

Alexeter Background Information Alexeter Technologies’ introduced reliable, field-portable biological detection andentification capabilities for first responders, security agencies and military units over 10 years ago.  Since then, the Guardian Reader System has become the standard in the United States and over 44 nations around the world.

Before the availability of the Guardian Reader System, biological tests were interpreted visually, introducing subjective interpretation under challenging field conditions.  Alexeter’s Guardian Reader alleviated those concerns, delivering objective field analysis, while improving the limit of detection nearly ten-fold for most tests.  Further, Alexeter’s novel use of RFID tracking technology assured users of accurate testentification and documentation.

The Defender TSR raised these capabilities to the next level.  The Defender TSR is the first, true hand-held biologicalentification device.  Each test is evaluated in less than 3 minutes, employing a high-resolution CMOS camera and sophisticated integration algorithms.  Full wireless capabilities allow secure communication of results anywhere in the world.  Featuring industry standard Windows Mobile® software, the Defender TSR runs a variety of response software.

In addition to Orthopox, Alexeter offers a comprehensive menu of tests including B. anthracis, ricin toxin, botulinum toxin, Staphylococcal Enterotoxin B, Y. pestis, Brucella, and Tularensis.
