Alpha Amplifiers Provide Users with Greater Versatility
Virginia Beach, Virginia, June 19, 2006 – The Alpha-305 and 350 multi-band amplifiers, manufactured by the Technical Solutions Group (TSG) of AMTI, provide tactical radio users with an economical, lightweight, and powerful amplifier solution that is truly compatible with SINCGARS and HAVEQUICK ECCM.
The amplifiers provide 50-watts of power out across the frequency range of 30-512 MHz AM or FM at 5-watts. Depending upon the variables of terrain and antenna, 50 watts of power amplification can boost the signal over significantly greater distances (+/- 30 miles), providing field personnel with extended communications versatility.
True SINCGARS and HAVEQUICK ECCM compatibility is an important distinction when evaluating amplifiers currently available on the market. TSG’s Director of Engineering, Mike Crumpler, explains: “Many amplifiers have ECCM capability but lack true compatibility. When an amplifier is only ECCM capable, the output filters are often moved out of the way, beyond the 90MHz range, in order to amplify the signal. The consequence of this is an adverse effect on local communication nets. It will make it difficult, if not impossible, for local units to receive a signal even into the UHF range. If an amp is only ECCM capable it actually acts as a ‘friendly’ jamming unit. True compatibility requires proper filter switching in order to avoid this type of disruption. Depending upon the field situation and amplifier application this can be a critical consideration.”
AMTI Technical Solutions Group’s 50 watt multi-band amplifiers come in two configurations. The only difference between the two is that the Alpha-305 features a charging pocket for the Multi-Band Intra-Team Radio (MBITR). The charging feature is independent of any direct connection of field radios to the amplifier itself.
A flexible solution, the Alpha-305 and Alpha-350 areeal for tactical vehicles such as the HMMWV, maritime assault craft, Special Ops vehicles or, for that matter, any mobility platform. Both kits come with an easy to install mounting tray with ‘shock absorbers’. The units slide in and out for quick installation and removal as needed and are weather tight to withstand the toughest of environments.
The TSG Alpha Series amplifiers are a family of engineered, field-proven, combat-tested and highly reliable tactical communications solutions used extensively in the global war on terrorism.
The Technical Solutions Group (TSG) of AMTI supports military, government and law enforcement agencies with three unique product families: tactical communication; Explosive Ordnance Disposal support equipment including IED Defeat Robots and Training Devices; and its unique, patent pending QuickLock™ Cargo Restraint System. TSG also provides custom engineering and prototyping in support of specialized requirements.
Founded in 1991, AMTI (www.amti.net) is a leading supplier of technical products and professional services for homeland security and the global war on terror. For the third year in a row, the Virginia Chamber of Commerce recognized AMTI as one of the top 50 fastest growing privately-owned businesses in Virginia, AMTI garnering fifteenth place for 2006.
