AMA To Launch New Disaster Medicine Journal

WHAT:       The American Medical Association (AMA) will launch a new peer-reviewed journal, Disaster Medicine and Public Health Preparedness,the first comprehensive and authoritative publication emphasizing the science of disaster planning, response and recovery. The quarterly journal will serve as a unifying resource for all health professionals, the emergency management community and others in the public and private sector who are essentia l to e mergency planning and response.    Disaster Medicine and Public Health Preparedness is an official publication of the AMA, published by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins. Featured studies in the first edition of the journal include: “Excess Mortality in the Aftermath of HurricaneKatrina: A Preliminary Report” and “Characteristics of Physician Relocation Following Hurricane Katrina.”   WHO:          Ronald M.
