American Public University System Is a Fully Accredited, Open Enrollment Private University Offering More Than 50 Degree Programs

American Public University System (www.apus.edu) is a fully accredited, privately-owned 100% online university with two divisions: American Military University (AMU) and American Public University (APU). APUS is proud to serve the military, civilian first responders, those working at all levels of government, and, NGOs, with associates, bachelors, and masters degrees. The institution continues to focus on the needs of working adults and other non-traditional students, while continuing to build on its core competency of National and Homeland Security and their supporting and complementary disciplines. It was the first American university to introduce Homeland Security degree programs cataloging both the BA and MA in Homeland Security degrees in May of 2001.

 

Currently, APUS offers over 50 degree programs. The emphasis is on Emergency and Disaster Management, Homeland and National Security, and first-responders and the protection of the critical infrastructure.  Related programs include Criminal Justice, Environmental Science, Public Administration, Public Health, Security Management and Transportation and Logistics Management. There is also number of certificate programs from the associate level through to the graduate level in theses programs.  In addition the university has built strong academic based relationships with a diverse group of partners.

 

In Homeland Security and National Security Studies agreements exist for the U.S. Army, Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation, Ft. Benning, Georgia and for Galilee College, Israel. For Intelligence studies there are agreements with CochiseCollege,  the U .S. Air Force, 17th Training Group, Goodfellow Air Force Base,  and, the U.S. Army Intelligence Center (USAIC) at Ft.Huachuca. In addition the university has agreements with all of the following: Lackawanna College, Scranton, PA, PhD Institute, Israel, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Global Maritime and Transportation School (GMATS), Kings Point, NY, FBI National Academy, and, United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR)  

At the current time there are more than 11,000 students enrolled in the School of Public Safety, National and Homeland Security. The university employs a diverse faculty of academically credentialed, working professionals teaching from Canada, South America, Europe, Georgia and the Middle East as well as from all over the United States. At the same time it boasts a student population that is attending courses form over 130 countries. The University also maintains, and continues to build, an impressive and comprehensive on-line library with a primary focus on the core areas of security and defense.
