ASU Offers Master of Science in Border Security

Master of Science (M.S.) in Border Security The Master of Science in Border Security (M.S.) is an online degree addressing the growing needs of Homeland Security and law enforcement personnel who face an ever-changing world of transnational crime, terrorism, and other threats. It incorporates theoretical and practical studies of the key fields of critical infrastructure, intelligence, terrorism, counter-terrorism, law and associated constitutional issues, and emergency management as they are applicable to the field of Homeland Security. The Master of Science in Border Security degree is open to all those with bachelor’s degrees, and is especially appropriate to those holding degrees in related subjects, such as criminal justice, law enforcement, emergency management, criminology and related fields.

Admission Requirements

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree with a GPA of 2.75 or better, including all grades on repeated courses, or hold a bachelor’s degree with a GPA of 3.0 or better in the last 60 hours of undergraduate work. Required GPA may be waived on a case by case basis by the department head.
  • At least two letters of recommendation
  • An essay of no more than 750 words discussing an important issue of homeland security

The GRE test is not required for admittance to the program.

Delivery Method This degree is offered completely online only. Graduate BOR courses are delivered in a 16-week format.

Time Frame The program can be completed in as little as 18 months.
