ADELPHI, MD - UMUC announced today that it has been selected by the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) to be the sole education provider to its members. The new agreement provides AUSA’s more than 100,000 members access to all 130 of UMUC’s degree and certificate programs. The agreement runs through June 30, 2012.
"While our troops support us in our endeavors abroad, UMUC is committed to supporting our troops in the room, and it is an honor to partner with the AUSA to provide higher education to its members and their families," said UMUC President Susan C. Aldridge. "UMUC has played a role in providing higher education to our nation’s military for more than 60 years, and we are pleased and proud to expand our commitment to the military under this new agreement."
AUSA members can choose from UMUC’s 130 degree programs to work toward an undergraduate or graduate degree, with the option of attending evening or weekend es entirely online, on-site, or in a hybrid format that combines on-site and online coursework. Members will also have access to UMUC certificate programs and may be eligible to receive credit through the university’s Prior Learning program. Prior Learning allows students to earn up to 30 credits in one semester—and up to 15 additional credits—for college-level learning acquired on the job, in the military or through community and volunteer activities.
Under the new agreement, out-of-state members are eligible for a tuition reduction of up to 25 percent, depending on the program. AUSA members, spouses and dependents will also have access to UMUC’s programs and services. AUSA is a private, non-profit educational organization that advances the interests of America’s Army by providing recreational and professional development opportunities to soldiers and their families. AUSA members include Active Army, National Guard, Army Reserve, Wounded Warriors, civilians, retirees, government civilians, family members and veterans.
