Battelle Wins $96.6 Million Scientific Services Program Contract

COLUMBUS, Ohio-The U.S. Army Research Office (ARO) has decided Battelle is the best choice for managing the Scientific Services Program (SSP) that provides short-term scientific and technical services to the Department of Defense (DoD) and other federal agencies.

Battelle was awarded the two-year, $96.6 million indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (ID/IQ) contract April 25. The SSP is a rapid and flexible contract mechanism available to all federal agencies to solve problems related to research and development (R&D) in many technology areas of interest to the government.  Battelle and its subcontractors perform short-term scientific and technical studies, analyses, investigations, evaluations, and assessments to help government agencies meet their mission requirements and attain their organizational goals.

The hub of SSP activity is at Battelle's Chapel Hill Operations (BCHO) office in North Carolina where Battelle staff members administer and manage the SSP.

"We're very pleased the U.S. Army Research Office has awarded this contract to Battelle. The SSP has been an important R&D program for ARO and Battelle for many years. We are eager to work with ARO to provide this important service to the federal government," said Dick Brewer, Battelle's Manager in the Chapel Hill office.

As the world's largest independent R&D organization, Battelle provides innovative solutions to the world's most pressing needs through its four global businesses:  Laboratory Management; National Security; Health and Life Sciences; and Energy, Environment and Material Sciences. It advances scientific discovery and application by conducting $6.5 billion in global R&D annually through contract research, laboratory management and technology commercialization.
