Bruker Daltonics Announces Selection of its RAID(TM)-XP Chemical Agent and Radiation Detector for Wheeled Armored Vehicles of the Czech Army

BILLERICA, Mass. - Bruker Daltonics today announces a $4.0 million contract award for its RAID™-XP man-portable chemical agent and radiation detector from Steyr-Daimler-Puch Spezialfahrzeug GmbH. The Bruker RAID-XP instruments will be integrated into Steyr’s Pandur wheeled armored vehicles to be delivered to the Czech Army. The primary mission of the instruments, which will be delivered over a period of several years, is the protection of crew members against chemical agents and gamma radiation. Of course, the RAID-XP can also be removed from the vehicle for man-portable missions.Mr. Sebastian Meyer-Plath, Bruker Daltonics’ Vice President for Chemical, Biological, Nuclear and Radiation (CBRN) detection, commented: “We are very pleased with this selection by the Czech Army and Steyr. This RAID-XP contract is the first in the field of nuclear and chemical detection in non-CBRN-dedicated wheeled armored vehicles. We endeavour to be responsive to new user requirements and our unique RAID-XP concept for simultaneous chemical and nuclear detection in a single instrument is quickly becoming a preferred solution for dedicated CBRN teams, as well as for general NC defense and homeland security applications.” Bruker Daltonics’ robust RAID- XP NC detector combines radiological and chemical detection into one system based on the Company’s RAID-M cutting-edge IMS technology for chemical detection, and the advanced SVG2 technology for detection of gamma radiation. Equipped with a data-logger and GPS connectivity, the RAID-XP operates in both stationary and mobile mode, and can also be integrated into sensor networks.About Bruker BioSciences (NASDAQ: BRKR)Bruker BioSciences Corporation, headquartered in Billerica, Massachusetts, is the publicly traded parent company of Bruker Daltonics Inc., Bruker AXS Inc. and Bruker Optics Inc.
