CANBERRA Team to Deliver the SOLOMON SEAL - A Dual-Purpose Comprehensive Cargo Sealing and Tracking System

Meriden, Conn. – CANBERRA, Pliant Corporation, and PowerID Ltd. announced they have joined forces to provide SOLOMON SEAL: a comprehensive, affordable and off-the-shelf system that ensures cargo sealing and real-time integrity and status tracking through the entire supply chain.

The SOLOMON SEAL is non-intrusive, does not slow down commerce, and is designed to monitor and document the inspection, stretch wrapping, and sealing process, as well as other events as necessary. System elements, including software, are well tested and fielded in many comparable applications.

CANBERRA, an AREVA company, contributed to the SOLOMON SEAL its commercial off-the-shelf systems, both mobile and stationary, known as the Homeland Security Surveillance System (HS3), which integrates and processes data (including video) from a variety of sources and sensors. Pliant is a leading producer of value-added film and flexible packaging products like Stratos™, Revolution®, and SecureAll™ stretch films, and  PowerID is the industry leader in battery-assisted passive (BAP) radio frequencyentification (RFID) technology.

Both Pliant Corp. and PowerID Ltd. have developed a unique, patent-pending technology that combines Pliant’s stretch film with PowerID’s specially designed BAP RFID labels to detect when pallets have been breached and transmits alarms signals to the system. This work is an extension of current development efforts for the U.S. Army Soldier Systems Center at Natick, Mass. Together the technologies form a SOLOMON SEAL: a turnkey solution that, in real time, detects a breach in cargo integrity and transmits full set of data to the cargo custodians.

“With decades of experience in monitoring nuclear sites across the globe, as well as providing turnkey solutions for various national and local monitoring programs, CANBERRA has unparalleled equipment to service cargo supply chain systems,” said CANBERRA Business Development Senior Manager Yakov Shadevich.  “HS3 is the most current data gathering and processing platform, and the U.S. Department of Energy is using it in many nuclear non-proliferation applications. The platform also has been proven in servicing municipal utilities, like in Laredo, Texas. We immediately realized the benefits and synergies of working with Pliant and PowerID to provide a comprehensive solution that addresses the TSA’s mandate to inspect, secure and track integrity of aviation cargo.”
