Chesterfield County Police Department Selects Attensity's Text Analytics Solution to Fight Crime

PALO ALTO, Calif., - Attensity(TM), the leader in text analytics software for business intelligence, today announced that Virginia's Chesterfield County Police Department (CCPD) has purchased the Attensity Law Enforcement Analyst Desktop Solution (LEADS) to help police personnel follow leads, make arrests and close cases. CCPD has developed a world- records management process that captures high-quality narrative reports. Officers dictate reports over the phone to representatives who type them in to a database and soon, direct entry from the field will be available to officers. The process ensures immediacy with greater data accuracy. However, analysts must painstakingly read, study, annotate, tag, parse, and process these narratives in order to assist detectives in finding leads to help solve crimes. Attensity helps the CCPD to discover and share accurate, actionable information from multitudes of documents containing freeform text. "We have tens of thousands of case files going back several years. Our crime analysts spend a lot of time reading through the detailed narratives in police reports trying to find a specific piece of information or looking for leads to help break a case," said Jack Ritchie, Commander, Administrative Support Bureau, for CCPD. "The department is eager to implement Attensity's applications to quickly find previously unknown events, facts and relationships hidden in the text so we can catch more criminals in less time." The CCPD currently protects about 300,000 residents throughout the county. The Chesterfield County Planning Department projects an additional 100,000 residents will move into the area in the next 20 years. (More information about the county is available at http://www.chesterfield.gov/.) "Attensity is excited to add CCPD to our solid federal and commercial installed base for use in local law enforcement, said Mike Lewis, vice president of government systems at Attensity. "Attensity's unique text analysis technology is easy to use and implement, enabling the CCPD to generate rapid results to help protect local citizens." Customers can license the modules in Attensity 4, which include Attensity Discover, Attensity Analytics, Attensity Server, Attensity Text Search, and Attensity Manage.
