Code Calling: Web-Based Emergency Preparedness Platform Revolutionizes Hospital System for Internal Crisis Communications

Verona, NJ - Hospitals pride themselves on readiness to handle emergencies in the community--but when those emergencies happen within the hospital walls, effectiveness of response varies widely. LiveProcess, the leader in web-based emergency preparedness solutions, has launched a versatile system that standardizes the intricate incident "code-calling" process, and also allows end users to customize every aspect of a process that can vary from code to code and hospital to hospital.

"This new functionality grew out of feedback we received from customers, who told us that they received so much value from our on-demand platform in disaster situations that they wanted a way to put that level of technology and coordination to use for everyday problems," said Nathaniel Weiss, founder and CEO of LiveProcess. "We are taking the process of calling codes for incidents like fires, chemical spills or patient emergencies from muffled voices on overhead speakers to emails, cell phones, pages, texting--all of those tech tools that allow us to work faster and smarter."

Calling Codes The code calling functionality is a new feature of the LiveProcess 5.0 platform. The enhancement provides a facility with the tools to manage codes from a robust, customizable administrator interface. Administrators can pre-plan and edit codes, alerts, and advisories, issue notifications via email, voicemail, and SMS (text) and track response time and code history--all in real-time.

Operators are able to quickly access the "always-on" codes applet and then call these codes from an easy-to-use web-based operator console that includes quick notify, real-time status and codes cancellation functionality.

Mobile Response LiveProcess 5.0 also introduces a simplified interface for critical operations to call and manage codes remotely using any mobile device--such as Blackberries, iPhones, cell phones and PDAs--with web browsing capability. This enhancement will allow users to call codes, clear active codes, start events, activate an incident command system, and send general notifications.
