Annapolis, MD, - CompuDyne Corp. today introduced a new mobile data system that enhances the capability of police and other first responders to send and receive critical information from the field during emergency situations.   The new system, called MobileCOM, was developed by CompuDyne's Tiburon subsidiary, an industry-leading provider of automated public safety and criminal justice systems based in Pleasanton, CA. The company introduced the new system at the International Association of Chiefs of Police conference in New Orleans. "The MobileCOM system is designed for the critical needs of first responders in emergency situations and even during routine traffic stops," said Stuart Mackiernan, president and CEO of CompuDyne. "This product is a further contribution by our Tiburon subsidiary to meet the complex demands of our nation's first responders."   Tiburon MobileCOM allows first responders to send and receive dispatch information, state and national database queries, and location mapping data. When used with Global Position Satellite (GPS) technology, police officers, firefighters, EMS, and other field personnel can easily locate the emergency call on the map in the vehicle, and then allow Tiburon MobileCOM to determine the shortest route to the destination.    A unique capability of Tiburon MobileCOM is the "follow me" feature which dynamically updates the map on the video monitor in the vehicle as the software tracks the direction of travel. Additionally, Tiburon MobileCOM can "reverse geocode" the location, eliminating the need to enter specific address information during officer-initiated events, such as a routine traffic stop.   To promote personnel safety, Tiburon MobileCOM also supports voice-to-text and text-to-voice translation.
