Witness what happens behind the scenes in preparing for the medical and public health impact of a disaster.
The nation’s first integrated training for medical and public health responses takes place April 4-8 at the Dallas Hilton Anatole Hotel, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). This training summit brings together the, National Disaster Medical System, Medical Reserve Corps, the Emergency System for Advance Registration of Volunteer Health Professionals, and the U.S. Public Health Service Office of Force Readiness and Deployment.
What: In addition to hundreds of training presentations throughout the week, on Sunday and Monday medical professionals from around the country will train hands-on with the following demonstrations:
- A federal medical station: a mobile medical facility with a full medical and pharmaceutical supplies for up to 250 patients who require basic care, mass ambulatory vaccination services, pre-hospital triage, or initial stabilization.
- A full cache of medical and pharmaceutical supplies and equipment used in disasters.
- A disaster portable mortuary unit: this complete morgue with all the needed equipment and supplies travels to a disaster site, along with specialists to operate it.
Throughout the week, you can meet expert faculty and some of the nation’s leaders in public health emergencies who will be on hand with the latest in emergency response and coordination and discussing clinical care, leadership skills, volunteer management practices, and response team issues.
