These newest additions to the ELITE evolution series STD fleet are part of ELITE's continuing commitment to provide training systems that are representative of the cockpits found in today's technically advanced aircraft (TAA). Several G1000-equipped versions are now available including a desktop iGATE and a Diamond DA40/42 FNPT II developed in cooperation with Diamond Aircraft Industries. The Garmin G1000-equipped devices are part of ELITE's ongoing glass panel training device development following the debut of its glass panel iGATE featuring the Sagem Avionics Integrated Cockpit Display System (ICDS 2000) at last year's AirVenture in Oshkosh. The new training devices are outfitted with the actual Garmin G1000 hardware utilizing the now familiar 10.4 GDU 1040 PFD/MFD displays and being offered as standard equipment from several airframe manufacturers. Each device can be specifically configured with performance data for selected aircraft from various models currently available Simulation is inevitably going to be taking on a larger role in pilot proficiency and transition training as the number of technically advanced aircraft grows, says Heinrich Schaible, ELITE Director of Marketing + Sales. As glass becomes more prevalent, so does the concern over how training will have to change to meet the unique demands of this technology. Training devices such as the G1000-equipped iGATE provide an unparalleled level of training value to organizations and individual students The airlines, military and corporate operators have effectively utilized simulator training for decades. Now other sectors of the aviation community will embrace this new generation of training devices as a logical path to proficiency for the latest advanced avionics suites.
