The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced it will open the FY2009 Fire Prevention and Safety (FP&S) Grant application period on September 21 at 8 a.m. EDT. Help your department apply for funds to support important programs including Fire Corps activities.
FP&S grants support projects that enhance the safety of the public and firefighters from fire and fire-related hazards. Grants can be used for activities commonly performed by Fire Corps teams, including smoke alarm installation, fire prevention and public safety education campaigns, juvenile fire setter interventions, media campaigns, arson prevention and awareness programs, and department health and safety initiatives.
DHS has released the FP&S Program Guidance on the Assistance to Firefighters Program web site at www.firegrantsupport.com. An applicant tutorial will also be available soon to help with the preparation and submittal of competitive applications as well as provide an overview of the fire prevention funding priorities and evaluation criteria. The application period is scheduled to be open from September 21 through October 23.
