First Line Technology to Bring AmbuBus Mass-Evacuation Capability to New York

Chantilly, VA – Lessons learned from Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and most recently Ike, prompted a need for quality, cost effective and resilient evacuation capabilities. With the recent success at the Texas Homeland Security and Disaster Response and Recovery Expo, First Line Technology will be exhibiting the AmbuBus – Bus Stretcher Conversion Kits – at the Long Island/NYC Emergency Management Conference in Melville, NY on May 27 and 28. The AmbuBus is a retrofit kit that enables vehicles of opportunity such as school or transit buses to be temporally converted into a mass casualty transport vehicle. The AmbuBus is currently being utilized statewide by Georgia and Alabama to enhance their special needs evacuation capabilities during hurricane evacuations and pandemic preparedness. The AmbuBus is an effective and efficient solution for mass evacuation and transport of special needs patients, casualties, and others who require non-ambulatory transport. The kit quickly and easily retrofits buses into mass casualty transport vehicles. By utilizing daily assets like buses, the AmbuBus allows for quick scalability and reduces long term costs of maintaining an infrequently used mass casualty transport fleet. With only 1 palletized Kit (2 Frames), a user can convert an existing passenger bus into an Ambulance Bus capable of safely transporting up to 18 stretchers, 6 operators and their medical support equipment. The AmbuBus can be erected free standing for sheltering operations as well as for surge capacity at hospitals or to house first responders during a disaster. “We are very excited to showcase the AmbuBus in New York,” said Amit Kapoor, First Line’s President. “New York has always been a leader in emergency preparedness and response. We are confident that state and local officials will see the significant value of the AmbuBus,” he added. First Line Technology is partnered with the New York office of Peduzzi Associates Ltd. to market and inform state and local officials and first responders of the unique capabilities of the AmbuBus. Scott Hommel, former Deputy Chief of Staff, State Operations, New York National Guard is leading efforts in New York. Mr. Hommel added “the AmbuBus is the perfect fit for state and local emergency response plans. It is cost effective with a long shelf life, it can be deployed within hours and returned to storage for later use. We look forward to bringing this capability to New York.” About First Line Technology First Line Technology, LLC is a supplier of Out of the Box Solutions for first responders and the military.
