FLIR Systems Hosted its Fourth Annual 'Corporate State of the Union' Press Breakfast

On October, 27, 2010 at the Association of the U.S. Army Annual Meeting (AUSA) FLIR Systems hosted its fourth annual “Corporate State of the Union” press breakfast. For the first time, Bill Sundermeier, president FLIR Government Systems, publicly discussed the recent ICx Technologies acquisition and its integration within FLIR Systems.

The show was the debut of the Star SAFIRE® HD SWIR sensor. This new sensor will allow for foliage penetration, detection of disturbed earth to determine IED placement and the ability to view covert SWIR laser – a new band of lasers not visible by traditional night vision technologies.

The new Recon® BN series, the world’s first and only true thermal binoculars, also was introduced by FLIR Systems during the show.  With two thermal imaging cameras, one for each eye, the Recon binoculars provide an authentic binocular viewing experience, with a true depth-of-field capability.

Other systems presented at the annual meeting included:

Cerberus Tower with mounted Ranger® III

  • Cobalt™ 90
  • Cobalt™ 190
  • Ranger® HRC X
  • Star SAFIRE®  III
  • Talon™
  • TacFLIR®
  • ThermoVision® SA Family

Additionally, ICx Technologies has released an innovative mid-range ground surveillance radar that leverages the resolution and accuracy of its advanced frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar technology and the extended range and terrain adaptability of traditional Pulse Doppler (PD) radars in a single, compact and lightweight package. This new radar can be ruggedized for mobile or man portable applications.

Wide area surveillance enabled by ICx ground surveillance radar provides a number of distinct advantages over more traditional linear detection sensors and systems, including an efficient, 24/7 persistent surveillance capability both within the perimeter and beyond the fence, all weather performance, better situational awareness and more time to assess and respond.
