Portland, OR – FLIR Systems announced today that its Integrated Systems division was awarded a contract for an integrated perimeter intrusion detection security solution for Vancouver International Airport (YVR) in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
FLIR’s solution will be comprised of a number of CommandSpace® Argus™ ground surveillance systems and Cameleon™ Tactical Command and Control Software. Under a separate contract, FLIR performed an extensive site assessment and radar test and evaluation study. The study concluded that a mix of integrated mid-range radars and thermal imagers would serve as an effective tool to improve airside security. The contract calls for extended support and maintenance components once installation is completed.
This integrated technology approach provides YVR security and operations personnel advanced early-warning capabilities for perimeter security breaches, improving its overall security posture. Serving as the cornerstone of its solution, FLIR’s ground-based radars have the highest probability of detection with the lowest false/nuisance alarm rates, while its Cameleon command and control software offers fully automated radar and camera slew-to-cue tracking support within a physical security management system.
“FLIR is proud to offer Vancouver International Airport the latest in airport perimeter security technology,” says Bill Sundermeier, president of FLIR’s Government System division. “With the increase in recent airport intrusions, it is vital that airports around the world have access to state-of-the-art technology that aid in securing the airport and its passengers.”
Installation of all technologies will occur during the Spring of 2013.
