FP&S 'Get Ready' Guide

The AFG Fire Prevention and Safety Grants application period will be opening soon! We have created a handy guide that will give you a kick-start in prepping for your grant application. It will also better prepare you to thoroughly answer the application questions.

The Guide will give you tips on the most heavily weighed areas of the application:

  • Vulnerability
  • Implementation
  • Evaluation

The Guide also highlights newly added Capability Questions. The purpose of the questions is to start gathering data so the Program Office can measure the effectiveness of grant funding on these programs. These questions are not scored and will not have an impact on the outcome of an application. There are no capabilities questions for the national/state/regional programs & studies category.

The Fire Prevention and Safety Grants (FP&S) are part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG), and are under the purview of the Grant Programs Directorate in the Federal Emergency Management Agency. FP&S Grants support projects that enhance the safety of the public and firefighters from fire and related hazards. The primary goal is to target high-risk populations and reduce injury and prevent death. Funding for FP&S also includes the Firefighter Safety Research and Development Activity.
