Hospitals Report Time & Cost Savings Using LiveProcess

VERONA, NJ – A new study of hospitals across the U.S. found that using SaaS-based technology in emergency preparedness and management increases efficiencies and saves time and money for the hospitals using these productivity tools. The study was conducted by Hobson & Company for LiveProcess Corporation, the leading provider of healthcare emergency management software, and includes data from hospitals across the U.S.

“The results were even more positive than we expected,” said Nathaniel Weiss, founder and CEO of LiveProcess. “Anecdotal evidence had always pointed to the fact that automating aspects of emergency  preparedness saves time, money, and lives. Now we have bottom-line evidence that using a solution like this significantly enhances hospital operational efficiency.”

A 150-bed hospital running two exercises per year, maintaining an emergency contact list of 3,000 names, and managing $150,000 in emergency inventory can  experience more than $60,000 per year in efficiency gains and reduced risk by using LiveProcess, the study concluded.

The  study involved in-depth interviews among hospital-based, emergency management  professionals as well as other essential personnel involved with emergency  management planning and communication, such as directors of facilities and vice  presidents of operations. Multiple types of hospitals are represented in the  study, including small and large medical centers, regional hospitals, pediatric  hospitals, and academic medical centers.

The study revealed that a technology-assisted and integrated emergency management system provided significant improvements within the following areas:

1. Simplified the planning, training, response, and documentation requirements for emergency management;

2. Saved time updating internal and external contact and profile  information;

3. Reduced  time notifying staff of disasters and other critical events;

4. Reduced  disruptions to normal hospital services; and

5. Responded  faster to any individual or team mobilizations.

Additionally, the study cites the following examples of  efficiencies gained, including:

  • Preparing for exercises in half the time and saving 20 percent of  time in training staff and clinicians;
  • Cutting in half the amount of time necessary to update contact  names; and
  • Managing critical events more seamlessly with less overall hospital operational disruption, protecting a hospital’s annual  revenue.

“In an increasingly demanding and competitive healthcare world, hospitals need every advantage they can get,” said  Weiss. “LiveProcess is pleased to  be a partner with healthcare institutions across the country that are doing  everything they can to make the community safer and healthier. At the end of the day, that’s what we  are all striving to accomplish.”
