HSMI Designated by Act of Congress as a DHS National Transportation Security Center of Excellence

The Homeland Security Management Institute (HSMI) at Long Island University has been designated by Act of Congress (H.R. 1 – the Implementing of the Recommendations of the 9/11 Commission Report Act of 2007) as a DHS National Transportation Security Center of Excellence, the only Homeland Security graduate education program to be so designated in the U.S. HSMI is offering a graduate-level Advanced Certificate and a Master of Science degree in Homeland Security Management. Both programs are fully registered with the New York State Education Department and fully accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. HSMI’s distinguished faculty of Senior Fellows and renowned Board of Advisors include the nation’s leading experts in Homeland Security / Homeland Defense.

Both degree programs are delivered in a very flexible and asynchronous online learning format that is designed to accommodate busy schedules of active professionals. These graduate-level programs meet the complex contemporary needs of managers and executives in Homeland Security and Homeland Defense specialties that include law enforcement, emergency management, the military, private sector entities and contractors, the Intelligence Community and related government and public safety fields.

Tuition assistance is available and a substantial 1/3 scholarship is available for qualified Homeland Security professionals. Applications are now being accepted.
