Rishon LeZion, Israel – Hi-Tech Solutions Ltd. (HTS), a developer and provider of optical character recognition (OCR) computer vision systems, today announced that it has been selected to provide its container code recognition (CCR) system for trains – SeeTrain – for the Port of Zeebrugge in Belgium. SeeTrain will read and record the container code numbers when a train enters or exits the port. This is the first installation of SeeTrain in Europe after successful deployments in the US. The unique system will be part of a container code recognition project being conducted by HTS at the Port of Zeebrugge. The Port of Zeebrugge is a large container, bulk cargo, new vehicle and passenger ferry terminal port in Belgium, and serves as a center for European distribution. It is one the most important ports in Europe for containerized cargo, handling 1.2 million common containers and 2 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent unit) in 2007. “The selection of SeeTrain for the Port of Zeebrugge is another milestone in the evolution of HTS as a major supplier of optical character recognition systems to European customers, in addition to our global activity,” said Meta Rotenberg, VP Business Development, HTS. “SeeTrain will increase the port’s traffic efficiency and prevent bottlenecks, while enhancing the port’s security.” SeeTrain can handle all standard sized containers, and reads ISO 6346 formats, including check digit verification and size/type (ISO 6346 is the international standard for assigning unique codes to freight containers). It reads container numbers from both sides as well as from the rear, and reads single stack and dual stack container configuration. SeeTrain captures information while a train is in motion, and captures full (four-side) container images for damage information applications. Optionally, the system can be integrated with rail car number and wheel counter readers. About Hi-Tech Solutions Ltd.
