ICx Technologies Awarded S.A.F.E.T.Y. Act Designation by Department of Homeland Security
Washington, DC –ICx Technologies, a provider of advanced technology solutions for homeland and military security, announced today that is has been awarded certification by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) under the Support Anti-Terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies (SAFETY) Act of 2002. Under this certification, the Fido® Portable Explosives Detector has been designated as a Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology (ATT). The Fido is developed and distributed by ICx Nomadics, a business unit of ICx Technologies.According to DHS, the SAFETY Act provides critical framework to encourage both entrepreneurs and established manufacturers to develop and deploy technologies necessary to protect America from terrorist attacks. The SAFETY Act designation and certification is intended to support effective technologies that will prevent, detect,entify or deter acts of terrorism or mitigate the harm that such acts might otherwise cause."We are thrilled to have our Fido Explosives Detector awarded the SAFETY Act designation," says Colin Cumming, chief technology officer of ICx Technologies.
