Nashville, TN – Marking one of its largest partnerships to date, growing information technology company DisastersNet has been selected by Indiana District One hospitals to automate “incident management” services for the 17-hospital district, officials announced today.

For the District One partnership, DisastersNet will provide its Disaster Incident Management System (DIMS) and Incident Action Plan (IAP) technologies. Used by more than 100 hospitals across the nation, these technologies automate a healthcare facility’s “incident management” services. Incident management services are the protocols and procedures that hospitals follow to manage emergency and other non-regular incidents that may occur within the organization.

District One is a regional hospital affiliate group in Indiana that includes 17 hospitals which range in size from less than 100 beds to over 200 beds. DisastersNet partners with more than 100 hospitals, including healthcare systems and regional hospital affiliate groups, nationwide.
Each District One hospital will utilize DisastersNet’s DIMS and the IAP module to conduct emergency preparedness exercises and to manage actual crisis events as varied as flu pandemics, natural disasters and severe weather, power outages, fires or terrorist attacks. Additionally, the DisastersNet technologies will allow District One to conduct emergency preparedness exercises at all 17 hospitals simultaneously to prepare the hospitals for district-wide incidents such as last winter’s blizzard.
“DisastersNet’s technologies will let us conduct more effective training drills in less time,” says Hess. “That way, when an actual incident occurs, we will be much better prepared.”
The State of Indiana groups counties into “hospital preparedness” districts. District One includes the counties of Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Newton and Jasper in northwestern Indiana. The District One hospitals chose to automate their incident management systems in order to improve efficiency and increase the accuracy of their incident documentation, which in turn allows the hospitals to learn from the past drills or experiences.
