Joint Commission Executive Takes Helm of Simulation Education Services

Simulation Education Services (SES) announces that Joe Cappiello, former Vice President for Accreditation Field Operations at The Joint Commission, has joined the organization as its President and Chief Executive Officer. SES is a nationally recognized organization which has introduced cost effective, compliant, and innovative solutions to address the need for disaster and emergency preparedness. Mr. Cappiello spent 10 years at The Joint Commission, the nation’s premier healthcare accrediting body, directing key internal functions as well as the 500 member field surveyor cadre.  Known as an innovative and dynamic leader, Mr. Cappiello led Joint Commission initiatives on emergency management and disaster response, personally debriefing nearly 300 healthcare organization following disasters.  Simulation Education Services (SES) is a nationally recognized organization which has pioneered and introduced cost effective, compliant, and innovative solutions for hospitals to address the need for disaster and emergency preparedness through Internet – based DeskTop Exercises and Simulated Patient Exercises using distance conferencing technologies.  SES services are HSEEP and Joint Commission compliant. Simulated Patient Functional Exercises conducted by SES comply with Joint Commission requirement set to go into effect January of 2008. These patient influx or evacuation exercises address the need for healthcare organizations to functionally exercise their emergency management plan through compliant patient influx simulation. This module can be conducted as either a free standing exercise or as an activity linked to the DeskTop Exercise.
