The Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will join officials and researchers from across the nation and around the globe for "Putting First Responders First," the 2008 Homeland Security S&T Stakeholders Conference West, to be held January 14-17 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The conference will be presented by the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA), with subject matter support provided by the DHS S&T Directorate. The State of California Governor's Office of Homeland Security (OHS) will also be a key participant. The conference will highlight the technology needs of police, fire, and emergency management personnel at all levels of government in the United States and internationally. An impressive speakers list includes DHS Under Secretary for Science and Technology Jay Cohen and Executive Director of the California OHS Matthew Bettenhausen. Researchers will be presenting from major laboratories, universities, private companies, and a host of other agencies and organizations. The event show floor is also open for complimentary viewing of exhibits during selected hours.
