SCHAUMBURG, IL – Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) today announced the successful completion of Project 25 (P25) interoperability tests by six P25 equipment manufacturers’ subscriber radios including Motorola, EFJohnson Technologies, Harris Corporation, Icom, Inc., PowerTrunk, Inc., and Technisonic Industries, Ltd. on Motorola’s ASTRO® 25 system infrastructure. These P25 manufacturers demonstrated interoperability by successfully completing all of the required P25 Phase 1 Common Air Interface (CAI) Trunked Interoperability tests outlined in the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TSB-102.CBBJ and within section 2.1.3.2 and 2.2.3.2 of the February 2009 DHS OIC Project 25 Compliance Assessment Bulletin, P25-CAB-CAI_TEST_REQ.
In January 2009, prior to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) lab recognition, Motorola led the industry with an Interoperability event to meet customers’ immediate need for documented proof of interoperability of other P25 manufacturers’ subscriber radios on the Motorola ASTRO 25 infrastructure. The July 2009 interoperability testing was conducted in Motorola’s newly recognized DHS lab as part of the formal P25 CAP Program. In May 2009, Motorola was in the first group of DHS lab recognitions.
“Motorola continues to seek out opportunities to drive and enhance interoperability within the Project 25 industry. This includes our engineering investment in Project 25 standards development along with our participation and leadership in informal and formal interoperability testing. We understand our customers’ need for interoperability and we are committed to enhancing interoperability within the industry,” said Brenda Herold, Motorola corporate vice president, government and public safety products, Enterprise Mobility Solutions.
The latest interoperability testing occurred the week of July 20, 2009 as part of the formal DHS Compliance Assessment Program. SDoCs and Summary Test Reports documenting the test results will be available in coming weeks on the DHS Responder Knowledge Base website at https://www.rkb.us/ and on Motorola’s Project 25 website at Project 25 (P25) Standards - Motorola USA.
