MSA Announces Successful Completion of HAZMATCAD Plus* Homeland Security Technology Verification Testing

Pittsburgh, PA-MSA Instrument Division is proud to announce successful completion of an independent, homeland security technology verification test of the HAZMATCAD Plus Hazardous Material Chemical Agent Detector for First Responders. Comprehensive CWA (chemical warfare agent) and TIC (toxic industrial chemical) testing was conducted by Battelle Science and Technology for the EPAs Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) Program (www.epa.gov/etv). This testing provides comprehensive verification of the HAZMATCAD Plus superior detection standards. The ETV Program develops testing protocols and verifies the performance of innovative technologies that have the potential to improve the protection of human health and the environment. ETV was created to accelerate the entrance of new environmental technologies into the domestic and international marketplace. The HAZMATCAD Plus Hazardous Material Chemical Agent Detector uses SAW (surface acoustic wave) and ECHEM (electrochemical) technology for simultaneous detection of CWAs and TICs, respectively. This portable handheld unit offers superior selectivity to detect and ify trace amounts of chemical warfare agents, including nerve and blister agents. For broad threat-detection capabilities and maximum flexibility, the HAZMATCAD Plus also detects phosgene, hydrogen cyanide, halogen and hydride gases. This compact and lightweight unit also features rugged construction and ease of use, requiring minimal training. A single key press begins automatic sampling and analysis.
