OMNI Onsite From Sceptor Collects Air Samples, Detects Molds, Mycotoxins, Bacteria At Hazard Sites

KANSAS CITY, MO — Sceptor Industries (www.sceptorindustries.com) has announced OMNI Onsite™, an integrated, portable system for taking air samples and detecting the presence of molds, mycotoxins, or certain bacteria in potentially contaminated buildings, all in two hours or less.“The OMNI Onsite is a collect-detect system for in-field evaluation of bioaerosols,” said Lisa Rogers, Vice President, Commercial. “It gives first responders and IAQ managers a single-unit, on-site solution that is capable of detecting certain fungi, without sending samples to a lab and waiting for a response. This is a breakthrough tool for fast analysis of bioaerosols.”The new collect-detect system is based on the OMNI™ 3000 air sampler with glass contactor. The glass contactor is proven to increase collection efficiency over previous models by a full 15 percentage points to 65% in the crucial 0.5 to1.0 µm particle size range. The OMNI Onsite system includes a choice of detection packages for evaluation of biohazards:
  • Fluorometric detection to evaluate total fungal mass
  • Immunoassay evaluation of Penicillium/Aspergillus genera and Stachybotrys chartarum
Other assays are under development to broaden the applications available to this unique system. The OMNI 3000’s SpinCon® technology combines 300 L/minute flow rates with the ability to concentrate particulates to levels hundreds of times higher than other aerosol collection methods. Its high airflow, small sample media volume, and newly increased collection efficiency produce unprecedented aerosol collection performance.Information sheets and unit specifications are available on the Sceptor web site or by contacting the company.About Sceptor IndustriesSceptor Industries (www.sceptorindustries.com) is a privately held corporation focusing on biological and chemical air safety.
