OptiMetrics, Inc. Granted Designation and Certification By The Department of Homeland Security

Ann Arbor, MI, - OptiMetrics, Inc., a scientific research and engineering company, announced that they have been awarded the Support Anti-terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies (SAFETY) Act Designation and Certification by the Department of Homeland Security for its first responder tool, ADASHI (Automated Decision Aid System for Hazardous Incidents) First Response.

The Department of Homeland Security has designated ADASHI First Response as a Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology (QATT) and granted certification of the software for inclusion on the Approved Products List for Homeland Security.   This certification is only given to technologies aimed at preventing, detecting, entifying, or deterring acts of terrorism, or limiting the harm that such acts might otherwise cause.  OptiMetrics, Inc. was granted this distinction after a thorough review and analysis of the ADASHI First Response software program.

The SAFETY Act was enacted to provide risk and litigation management protections for sellers of qualified anti-terrorism technologies.  The Act was designed to encourage the development of anti-terrorism technologies that enhance the protection of the nation.

ADASHI was originally invented through a partnership with the U.S. Army.  The most recent version of ADASHI First Response (released November ’05) provides first responders a street map view of any hazardous, terrorist, or weapons of mass destruction (WMD) incident overlaid with critical warnings and guidance.  The program includes intelligent WMD and HazMat agent discovery, integrated CAMEO/ALOHA hazard prediction, real-time weather acquisition, and easy to follow guidance in the form of suggested action checklists.  In addition, ADASHI Smart Form technology auto-fills the complete set of National Incident Management (NIM) forms.

Headquartered in Michigan and founded in 1979, OptiMetrics, Inc. provides specialized research and engineering services to government and industry.  The company’s primary focus is on applying science and technology to protect and enhance the role of soldiers on the battlefield, and assist fire, police, and medical personnel with civilian response.
