The Last Chance Rescue Filter is a one-time-use emergency device that a firefighter can use in the event of an out-of-air emergency.  The Canister filters out the toxic gases that are typically encountered during a fire.  The canister has a 5 ½ year shelf-life from the date of manufacture and weighs less than 1 pound.  Last Chance Rescue Filters are available for the following SCBA Units: MSA, Draeger, Scott and Sperian. The LCRF is tested to meet the EN 403 requirement for Rescue Filters.

During a recent “Live Burn” training exercise with the Virginia Beach Fire Department, where representatives from surrounding city fire departments of Chesapeake, James City, Newport News, and Norfolk also participated, the Last Chance Rescue Filter was found to be successful in supporting firefighters to escape in the event that they lose their only source of breathable air during a fire.  Chesapeake FD in Virginia has recently purchased over 200 MSA Last Chance Rescue Filters.
