Join respected practitioners and leading academic experts in a workshop examining selected action strategies to improve community alignment, support, and performance of your agency.

Offered by Northwestern University's Center for Public Safety, this workshop, the first in a series, will focus on mid-sized and smaller agencies. Through briefings, case studies, and examination of your agency, you will gain insight into strategies for implementing procedural justice and reducing the effects of implicit bias. In addition, you will learn to apply the Police-Community Partnership Checklist for assessment and planning.

Participation in the workshop is limited to chiefs of police, sheriffs, senior police executives, mayors, city managers, and senior staff members of municipal and city government. Multiple representatives from participating organizations are encouraged.

Expected Outcomes for Participants:

• Overall understanding of the "six pillars" for improving police organizations introduced in the recent report of the President's Task Force on 21st Century Policing

• A more in-depth understanding of implicit bias and procedural justice in the police organization and in the community

• Steps for diagnosing your community's situation, needs, and change-readiness

• More accurately assess desired outcomes and highest priority change strategies
