RAE Systems Launches EntryRAE, Creating New Standard for Confined Space Entry Hazardous Gas Detection

SUNNYVALE, Calif

SUNNYVALE, Calif. April 20, 2004 RAE Systems Inc.(AMEX: RAE), a leading global developer and manufacturer of rapidly-deployable,multi-sensor chemical and radiation detection monitors and networks forhomeland security and industrial applications, today announced that it haslaunched the EntryRAE, a superior and affordable personal gas monitor for OSHAcompliant, hazardous confined space entry (CSE) work.

RAE Systems has added its industry leading photoionizationdetector (PID) to the EntryRAE. Unlike typical CSE gas monitors that onlydetect combustible vapors and three gases - oxygen, carbon monoxide andhydrogen sulfide, the EntryRAE adds broadband protection from the toxic andchronic effects of the industrial compounds common to many modern products and processes.  Paints, fuels, degreasers, adhesives, solvents, pesticides, herbicides all contain volatile organics compounds(VOCs).  Toxic at parts-per-millionlevels of concentration, VOCs go undetected by typical CSE gas monitors. Ableto detect VOCs at extremely low concentrations, the PID-enhanced EntryRAEprovides the broadband protection needed to protect the long-term health andsafety of CSE personnel who need to do work in storage tanks, utility vaults, fuel depots and other areas with limited ventilation.

The men and women who routinely work in confined spaces cantafford to only worry about the toxic threats that are instantly lethal, saidRobert I. Chen, CEO of RAE Systems. CSE professionals are rightly becomingmore concerned about the safety and long-term effects of many industrial gasesand vapors, and EntryRAE is the solution to providing the peace of mind intodays industrial environment.

The EntryRAE was designed for applications such as chemicalprocessing, water facilities, nylon and resin production, rail car cleaning, sewer entry, and marine uses. Regulatory agencies such as OSHA, EPA and DOT,environmental contractors and municipal and public works personnel will alsobenefit from the powerful protection provided by the EntryRAE.

The EntryRAE is priced starting at $1,995 and is availablebeginning in June, 2004. RAE Systems will demonstrate the EntryRAE at the AIHceConference in Atlanta, May 10-12.
