Sagem Securite to Provide Interpol and Its 186 Member States With the Latest Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS), the MetaMorpho

Paris, – Sagem Sécurité (SAFRAN Group) and Interpol announced today that Sagem Sécurité will supply Interpol and its 186 member states with the latest version of its automated fingerprintentification system, MetaMorpho™. Today’s announcement is part of a detailed agreement signed on Jan.10. In addition to automated processing, this new-generation system features the latest algorithms developed by Sagem Sécurité, as well as fingerprint acquisition and transmission software in full compliance with international standards. The latest version of the MetaMorpho AFIS will accelerate communications between Interpol headquarters in Lyon and the member states, enrich the fingerprint database, and increase the inquiry success rate. “More highly automated searches give the end-user more control over the process,” explained Mark Branchflower, head of the fingerprint unit at Interpol. “This means that each national office will be able to develop its own work process, signaling real progress for Interpol and its member-states.” According to Jean Michel Louboutin, executive director of police services at Interpol, “Fingerprintentification is the process the most widely used by police forces around the world. Interpol must ensure that these forces are using the latest technologies toentify terrorists and criminals.” “We are both proud and honored to have signed this exemplary partnership agreement with Interpol,” said Jean-Paul Jainsky, chairman and CEO of Sagem Sécurité. “It gives Interpol and each of its 186 member-states direct access to state-of-the-artentification technologies. It also reflects our close collaboration and long-standing privileged relationship with Interpol.” The advanced technology offered b y Sagem Sécurité played a decisive role in Interpol’s choice, because it sets the global standard in fingerprint recognition.
