CADDO VALLEY, Ark. -- The 2013 Arkansas Fire Boat School was intended to offer attendees mock scenarios of disaster situations related to fire and water rescue. Collaborative efforts from various fire departments, as well as the Coast Guard, meant to provide training to one of the nation’s largest emergency training events. However, what was meant to be a training event soon became an incident of its own.
At 11:00 am, training was suspended as inclement weather producing intense lightning thwarted the aquatic role-playing es. Suddenly, over four-dozen watercraft holding 269 people were in the middle of an emergency situation. Fortunately, Salamander equipment was being used at the event and in a matter of twelve minutes, every person and watercraft was effectively checked out, thus responsibly ending the training situation and addressing the growing emergency on hand.
Officials in the command center were impressed at how efficient Salamander’s Intelligent Accountability (IA) equipment was at tagging, tracking, and reporting all involved watercraft in real-time. Using radio equipment and several computers, Salamander equipment responsibly accounted for every attendee as the situations worsened.
Citizens of five different states representing several fire departments, police departments, EMA’s, water rescue, and Fish and Game were swiftly accounted for as the events of the day were suspended, reengaged, and ultimately stopped once again. Salamander equipment allowed for smooth, uneventful accountability of hundreds of people in situations of danger and disruption. Efficiency and order in the midst of confusion are the results one can expect with the use of IA equipment from Salamander. This world will always provide calamity- both expected and unexpected. Salamander exists to equip first responders with the real-time ability to tag, track, and report even in moments of the utmost confusion.
