Kansas City, MO  - Sceptor Industries, Inc., today announced the expansion of its senior management team with the addition of Richard R. Thomas in the position of Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President. Mr. Thomas will be responsible for the management, growth and integration of global business operations for the company.   “With a new strategic direction being undertaken by Sceptor, we are especially pleased to have Rick rejoin the team,” said Sean Reineke, President and CEO of Sceptor. “Rick’s experience and record of success in product commercialization, business expansion, and partnership execution in the biodefense segment of the global detection industry will be critical as we execute on the numerous opportunities currently on Sceptor’s horizon.”   With over 25 years of product development and senior management experience in the chemical and biological detection markets serving the military and homeland security needs, Mr. Thomas developed and executed new program and product plans and met or exceeded commercial goals in each instance.  Previously, Mr. Thomas served at VP of Government Programs for Sceptor Industries where he was responsible for business development includingentification of new markets and applications for the aerosol sampler product line. Mr. Thomas also assisted with Sceptor’s organizational growth from a supplier of bioaerosol sampling subsystems to a provider of integrated biosecurity detection systems.  He is the former President of Environmental Technology Group and Smiths Detection-Edgewood where he managed over 100 employees and an operating budget in excess of $25 million and where he increased Smiths Detections revenue by three-fold in four years.  Mr. Thomas recently served as senior executive at Innovative Biosensors, Inc., a venture-backed organization, leading their successful product entry into the biodefense market. Mr. Thomas has served on several industry committees and recently co-chaired the Chemical Bio Defense Acquisition Initiatives Forum for the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical Bio Defense.
