Sceptor's OMNI 3000 Air Sampler Wins Award for innovation from AHR Expo Committee; will be Featured at Expo

KANSAS CITY, MO — The OMNI 3000 portable air sampler from Sceptor Industries (www.sceptorindustries.com) has received a 2006 AHR Expo honorable mention award for innovation in indoor air quality (IAQ). The system, which will be shown at the Sceptor booth (#2832) during the Expo in Chicago, January 23-25, was selected for the award by a panel of seven judges from the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).“We are honored that the judging panel has named the OMNI 3000 one of the most innovative IAQ products of the past year,” said Lisa Rogers, Sceptor’s VP - Commercial. “The AHR Expo awards perform a valuable service to the heating, ventilation, air condition, and refrigeration industry by encouraging the development of creative and useful HVACR products. We are proud to be a recipient.”The OMNI 3000 is designed for use in chemical, bioaerosol, and biothreat detection programs by first responders, environmental health and safety (EHS) managers, and other IAQ experts. It quickly captures and concentrates samples of air to test for potential chemical contamination, environmental hazards, or biothreats, including:
  • the presence of mycotoxins and fungi (molds) in building
  • clean room contaminants
  • outbreaks of anthrax and other pathogens
  • TB, legionella, and other infectious diseases
Its portability, small size, and high performance make it a good choice for use in IAQ programs, where users may have to move quickly to respond to emergencies or transport it for IAQ checks at multiple building sites. The OMNI 3000’s  unprecedented flow rate of 300 liters/minute allows the user to collect a more representative sample in less time for more accurate evaluation of a broad range of airborne contaminants. It can capture aerosols from 10 microns to vapors, while preserving the viability of biological organisms. The user-selectable sampling interval permits concentration of samples up to five million times the level of the particles in the air. This feature allows users to detect and evaluate even small trace samples of contaminants. The device collects the samples in sealed sterile cartridges for secure transfer to a testing laboratory, and is easily adaptable for field detection methodologies. Each cartridge yields enough material for multiple tests of its contents.Users can also optimize the collection media in the cartridges for maximum performance with specific contaminants or lab analysis methods.Captured samples are compatible with standard lab analyses such as culture plates, PCR, GC/MS or immunoassay. They can also be used for onsite analysis with mobile detection technologies.More information on the OMNI 3000 is available at the Sceptor booth during the AHR Expo in Chicago, or by contacting Sceptor Industries through its web site, www.sceptorindustries.com. About Sceptor IndustriesSceptor Industries (www.sceptorindustries.com) is a privately held corporation focusing on biological and chemical air safety.
