KANSAS CITY, MO — Sceptor Industries today announced the Omni 3000, a portable aerosol collector for first responders, environmental health and safety (EHS) managers, and indoor air quality experts that uses SpinCon® technology to aid in chemical, bioaerosol, and biothreat detection. SpinCon technology was originally developed for use by government agencies, including national homeland security organizations.
The Omni 3000 quickly and effectively captures and concentrates samples of air to test for potential chemical contamination, environmental hazards, or biothreats, including:
- outbreaks of anthrax and other pathogens
- the presence of mycotoxins (molds) in buildings
- airborne chemical compounds
- clean room contaminants
“SpinCon technology is the gold standard of aerosol sampling among the military organizations and government agencies responsible for responding to biothreats,” said Dick Jarman, Sceptor CEO. “This is the first time it’s been incorporated into a collector designed for local and regional rapid response teams to use in emergencies. “We believe EHS managers will also find that its small size and superior performance make it aneal choice for indoor air quality (IAQ) programs.”
The Omni 3000’s portability lets users quickly move it to respond to emergencies or for IAQ checks at multiple building sites. Its rugged industrial design also allows the collector to be used as part of a continuous monitoring system.
A high flow rate of 300 liters/minute insures fast, accurate sampling of a broad range of sample profiles. The collector can capture aerosols from 10 microns to vapors, while preserving the viability of biological organisms.
The Omni 3000 can concentrate samples at over 13,000 times the level of the particles in the air. This allows users to detect and evaluate even small trace samples of contaminants.
The device collects samples in sealed sterile cartridges for secure transfer to a laboratory for analysis. Each cartridge yields enough material for multiple tests of its contents.
Users can also optimize the collection media in the cartridges for maximum performance with specific contaminants or lab analysis methods.
Captured samples are compatible with standard lab analyses such as culture plates, PCR, GC/MS or immunoassay. They can also be used for onsite analysis with mobile detection technologies.
The Omni 3000 from Sceptor Industries is now available for delivery. Pricing starts at $9,878 per unit.
