Semandex Presents, Demonstrates Technology Behind Its Working Semantic Networks at Semantic Technology Conference
SAN JOSE, CA — Semandex™ Networks, Inc. of Princeton, NJ, a pioneer in semantic technology, will give a presentation during the 2007 Semantic Technology Conference in San Jose, CA. on the technology behind the practical, working semantic networks it has built over the past two years. The company will also present demonstrations of how the technology might be used for emergency services management .The presentation, “Semandex’s Netlink – A Real-Time Knowledge Network in Action,” to be given Wednesday, May 23 at 11 AM, will describe the technical innovations within the company’s flagship Netlink networking product, referring to the Netlink applications currently deployed in the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security. The US patent office recently issued Semandex a patent on the basic technology behind Netlink. The demonstrations will take place during the exhibit sessions tomorrow and Wednesday. They center on the Medical Emergency Disaster Response Network (MEDRN) system developed by Semandex under an NIH/NLM grant. “Semantic networking is here today in practical, fully functional Netlink-based applications,” said Jaime Gomezjurado, Semandex vice president of business development. “These are not prototypes or ‘toy’ applications, but real-world situational awareness systems that give users the information they need no matter where it originates. My presentation will talk about the technology, and also discuss problems and solutions in implementing it in working semantic networking systems.”One of the successful Netlink-based applications is the aXiom web portal for intelligence gathering and situational awareness at the Department of Defense Space and Naval Warfare (SPAWAR) Systems Center in Charleston. The system uses Netlink’s semantic technology to facilitate information sharing across multiple US national security organizations. Netlink actively gathers information from sources around the globe, reformats it into an integrated presentation, and delivers it to those who need to know in real time or near real-time.Another Netlink-based system has been deployed in Iraq to provide battlespace awareness for the Marine Corps. It collects crucial information, including geospatial coordinates, from several sources, and automatically distributes it to every member of the team. The demonstration will show how MEDRN can enable a seamless exchange of information among information systems, even if they are incompatible, allowing agencies such as police, hospitals, EMS teams, and public health officials to coordinate their responses to an emergency in real time.About Semandex™ NetworksSemandex™ Networks Inc.
