OAKWOOD VILLAGE, Ohio – Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, announced that the Thermo Scientific Matrix Mobile ARIS Detection System, field operational since June 2007, is now available in an optional configuration as an integrated, self-contained unit with easily accessible components. The self-contained modular unit, installed in the rear compartment of a standard SUV with minimal basic tools, is designed to allow all of the system’s elements to be easily reachable in a specially engineered, slide-out module with pull-out metal drawers. Because the individual components are not bolted into the vehicle, they can be pulled all the way out from the SUV’s rear compartment so that users can easily work on the detection elements or simply replace them if necessary. Installation of a single data/control cable and power source is all that is necessary for completing the installation.
The new Thermo Scientific self-contained unit consists of two, seven-liter gamma probes; one neutron probe; the ARIS radioisotopeentification system; and a rugged laptop running the DOE National Lab tested ViewPoint™ Enterprise Survey Client that makes it possible to easily survey an area and determine the radiation contour.
Utilizing Sandia National Laboratory fit2db spectroscopicentification technology, the Matrix Mobile ARIS system leverages the power of Thermo Scientific’s patented Natural Background Rejection (NBR) technology and the proprietary ARIS Advanced Radioisotopeentification System with the Thermo Scientific ViewPoint™ Enterprise real-time monitoring and analysis software. In addition, the Matrix Mobile ARIS can be integrated with the Thermo Scientific RadReachBack™ communications system to provide a continuous, real-time data communications link with a command center, expert analysis facility or secondary-level response personnel. This entire integrated technology solution makes the Thermo Scientific survey and detection system one of unparalleled flexibility to produce a fast, mobile and intelligent system that detects low-level threats, reduces the need for operator expertise, minimizes false alarms, and increases incident response accuracy.
The Thermo Scientific mobile radiation detection system is advantageous for law enforcement and homeland security applications. The solution iseal for state police, civil defense, federal agencies, and large metropolitan security forces which need more efficient methods of performing interdiction and investigation capability.
