Top-Ten U.S. Fire Rescue Department, Miami-Dade, Selects NICE Inform for Its Emergency Communications Center

The Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department (MDFR) has selected NICE Inform, and other NICE security solutions, to capture and manage its emergency communications. MDFR joins other Miami-Dade County Departments already using NICE security solutions.

The MDFR dispatch center handles close to a quarter-million emergency calls each year, dispatching fire rescue apparatus and aero-medical transport services in critical situations. The NICE solutions will be used to record and manage 911 and radio emergency communications in the dispatch center as well as VoIP admin phone lines. The new NICE solutions will replace an outdated system, making it easier for MDFR to process public records requests, and reconstruct and retrieve emergency call scenarios for training purposes. MDFR is one of the top ten largest fire rescue departments in the United States, serving 30 municipalities in unincorporated Miami-Dade County.

"NICE offered us more of the capabilities we needed to improve our operation today as well as multimedia capabilities for the future," said Lindsey L. Plummer, Division Chief for the Miami-Dade Fire Department. "We'll now be able to glean information faster and improve our ability to dispatch and train. NICE's stability and service also factored into our decision to purchase from the Company."

MDFR now joins the growing ranks of other Miami-Dade County agencies that have already implemented NICE's security and public safety solutions. In November of 2008, NICE announced that it had received a 7-digit order from the Miami-Dade Police Department. The Miami-Dade Police Department serves Miami-Dade County's unincorporated areas and has law enforcement responsibility for a major international airport and other County sites which also use NICE recording and video solutions.

"Following our selection by the Miami-Dade Police Department, we are very pleased that Miami-Dade Fire Rescue has also chosen NICE," said Chris Wooten, President of the Security Americas Division for NICE. "More and more often, we are finding that entire counties are selecting NICE, making us the clear choice for their public safety and security needs."

NICE Systems provides end-to-end security solutions that protect people, assets and critical infrastructure. NICE's digital video surveillance solutions integrate real-time video analytics, IP networking, recording and management to enable automatic threat detection, instant verification, event resolution and effective investigation. Organizations can also leverage NICE Inform, NICE's multimedia incident information management solution, to capture and seamlessly synch voice, video with other multimedia information for comprehensive incident reconstruction. NICE Inform can be tailored to the specific needs of command and control centers for first responders and homeland security, transportation, government, universities, utilities and other organizations, to deliver improved collaboration, operational efficiency and enhanced safety and security.
