ANNAPOLIS, MD, - CompuDyne Corp. announced that its Tiburon, Inc. subsidiary has been awarded a contract by Travis County, Texas, to upgrade the software used to manage the county's public safety and criminal justice system. The contract, valued at $2 million, provides for Tiburon to upgrade the existing systems installed by the company in 1999. Included in the contract are the county's law enforcement records management, corrections management, prosecutor information, probation, and civil process systems. Travis County is part of the Austin metropolitan area in central Texas, and Austin is the county seat. During the term of the contract, Tiburon will upgrade more than 24 system applications and interfaces that are used by a consortium of county public safety and justice agencies. An important aspect of the project is the upgrade to the county's Interagency Database, which integrates information with other existing county systems and enables personnel to collect and share data among agencies. Information such as name, aliases, charges, and arrest records are stored in a common data warehouse and available to any authorized user - from law enforcement personnel and district attorneys to judges and jail administrators.
