FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
GLENN DALE, MD February 2, 2003 -- TVI Corporation (OTCBB: TVIN), a leading supplier of rapid deployment shelters and chemical/biological decontamination systems for the military, public health and first response agencies, announced today that the United Kingdom has placed an additional $1.3 million dollar order for the UK Protocol Systems, validating the global technological leadership of TVI. This order augments the $8.9 million dollars of TVI equipment put in operation throughout the UK in 2003, and was placed after exhaustive drills proving the reliability and effectiveness of the TVI product.
Designed and developed in partnership with the UK Fire Service Inspectorate and Professional Protection Systems in June of 2003, these systems incorporate TVIs leading edge technology including the new IntelliJet Nozzle and the patented TVI articulating frame, all of which helped establish TVI as the global standard in mass casualty decontamination.
As a testament to the original selection of TVI, a British Government spokesman stated, "The new British decontamination system developed for us by TVI Corporation and Professional Protection Services met our requirements better than any we have evaluated to date."
Mark Whitcher, President of Professional Protection Services, and TVIs Partner in the UK stated, "This order for TVI product is the next logical step in our international expansion. The steadfast commitment to TVI by one of the worlds preeminent fire services attests to the products unequaled performance. Their continued validation is propelling many of our other worldwide initiatives forward.
Rick Priddy, TVI CEO, added, "This order is important for two reasons. First and foremost, having established ourselves as the leader in decontamination technology domestically, we are pleased our closest ally in Operation Iraqi Freedom has also chosen to rely on us to protect its citizens. Should the unimaginable happen, I am proud that TVI product will help decontaminate the innocent and help reduce casualties in the UK. Secondly, the continued validation of our product line by Her Majestys Fire Service sets the stage from which we are realizing our global expansion. TVIs product is being evaluated in countries throughout the EU, Asia and Africa, and this reorder reinforces the formal approval by the UK. The need to respond to disasters, both natural and manmade, is an ongoing responsibility, and we expect many nations of the world to choose our equipment to assist them in fulfilling that obligation.
