U.S. Defense Department Places First Full-Rate Production Order for E-Z-EM's Reactive Skin Decontamination Lotion (RSDL)

LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y. (April 2, 2007) – E-Z-EM, Inc. (NASDAQ: EZEM) today announced that the U.S. Army Space & Missile Defense Command (USASMD) has placed the U.S. Defense Department’s (DoD) first procurement order for the Company’s RSDL(TM) personal skin decontamination product. The $5.07 million order—for both RSDL and training packets—is the first of what the Company believes will be an ongoing procurement program designed to establish RSDL as the preferred personal skin decontaminant for U.S. war-fighters. Recently, RSDL received Milestone C approval from the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical Biological Defense (JPEO-CBD), a decision that cleared the way for procurement by the individual service branches of the DoD. RSDL is a patented, broad spectrum skin decontamination product intended to remove or neutralize chemical warfare (CW) agents or T2 toxins from the skin. Originally developed for the Canadian Ministry of Defense, RSDL has since been adopted by several military services around the world. Commenting on the announcement, Timothy G. Henry, Vice President Healthcare Decontamination of E-Z-EM, said, “We are obviously very pleased that the DoD moved so quickly to place this procurement order after issuing Milestone C approval for RSDL and we expect to receive additional orders in the future. It is noteworthy that RSDL is one of the few products to receive Milestone C approval this year.”   About E-Z-EM, Inc.
