Ultra Electronics SML Technologies (UESML) and its US representative Observation Technologies (ObsTek) Inc., have received an order from Ciber, Inc. for the supply of an intelligent, radar-based port security system for Port Freeport, Texas, USA. Ultra’s system is a component of Ciber’s integrated Harbor Management Security (HMS) system. UESML’s part of this system will deliver to Port Freeport the capability to detect, track and initiate alarm on small vessel intrusion, display radar and AIS tracks on an electronic chart and provide vectoring information for port security cameras. Ultra’s component of the HMS system will also supply the sensor information to the web portal C2 display portion of Ciber’s HMS system, giving the port round-the-clock waterside security. UESML’s contract also includes its unique SID transponder system, which will link live, correlated radar and AIS track data to patrol boats and vehicles. Located just a few miles from deep water, Port Freeport is one of the most accessible ports on the Gulf Coast. This contract is significant as the port is adding a large Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) installation to the petrochemical facilities already operating in the port. Last year, Ultra and Obstek supplied a similar system component to Ciber’s HMS system for the Port of Lake Charles, Louisiana, one of the largest LNG ports in the US. That system was the first of its kind to offer a shared, multi-mission, integrated approach to protecting a port region. It also provides Ultra and Ciber’s Maritime Domain Awareness for a large area comprising hundreds of users across numerous government and private entities. For more information contact:Peter Roelofs, Sales and Marketing ManagerVTS and Surveillance SystemsUltra Electronics SML Technologies316 Botley Road, BurridgeSouthampton SO31 1BQUnited KingdomPhone: +44 (0)1489-555729U.S. Phone: (703) 609-5899Website: www.ultra-sml.com
