Rotterdam - Leading developer of emergency response training software VSTEP is proud to announce that a new version of its RescueSim virtual incident training platform is now available for customers, featuring many new & advanced features.
RescueSim is used for Virtual Reality training by safety and security professionals throughout the world and provides firefighters and emergency services with the most comprehensive 3D virtual incident training to date. RescueSim has specialized incident management modules dedicated to Industry, Port, Underground environments, Airports, Railways, Onboard and Offshore.
In close cooperation with its users, many new and advanced features have been added to RescueSim to guarantee the most realistic and easy-to-use virtual incident training on the market. New features in the latest RescueSim version include:
1. Interactive/Intelligent Smoke In addition to the existing scalable smoke types already in RescueSim, a new ‘intelligent’ smoke type has been added. This type of smoke spreads realistically within a enclosed area, such as a room or building, filling it gradually, interacting with ceilings and walls based on advanced smoke physics/dynamics.
2. Foam Dynamics New Foam demonstrates realistic dynamics. Like in real-life, RescueSim foam sticks to surfaces and disperses realistically when sprayed on objects. The new virtual foam is subject to gravity and gradually slides down from objects on which they are sprayed.
3. Customisable Road Signs/Street Name Signs Road signs and street name signs can be placed any training environment and changed in order to match the actual locations.
4. Google Maps integration All virtual objects (first responders, vehicles, victims, etc.) in an incident scenario can be represented as real-time icons in Google Maps and Google Street View. This allows for a dynamic strategic overview of the situation and top level decision training.
5. Import actual pictures into any training environment Real pictures can be added to the virtual RescueSim environment. This allows users to easily customise the virtual environment to match their own actual environment. In addition to loading their own pictures, the RescueSim library contains default pictures of materials such as grass, dirt, sidewalk, water, etc. For example, specific Google Street View images can be added to make the environment resemble a certain specific location.
6. Floods Users can now create floods of any desired water level in any RescueSim environment for training of flooding incident response.
7. New environments The RescueSim environment library has been updated with several new environments, bringing the total amount of available incident locations in RescueSim to 120.
- International Airport: An international airport (14.7 km²) with all available facilities as well as different types of aircraft, parking lots and aircraft hangars.
- Camping Area: A camping area with a playground, football field, sanitation block and areas for placing caravans and tents. Nearby lies a large farmhouse with a thatched roof and a forest and heathland.
- Train stations: In addition to the existing station, large and medium sized station types have been added including all facilities, shops, platforms, escalators, as well as different passenger and cargo train types.
8. Casualty vital signs and Triage Users can now perform Triage and determine the Triage status based on the actual vital signs of a casualty. Instructors can add vital signs for each casualty which can change over time depending on a student action or inaction.
9. New objects Many new objects and characters have been added to RescueSim bringing the library to 350 objects which can be used in an of the 120 incident locations. New objects include mounted police, scene leaders, first responders, stackable IBC containers, water monitors, caravans, tents, security camera, and many more.
10. Enhanced auditive feedback sounds Following extensive research by the Utrecht University, the sound functionality in RescueSim has been greatly enhanced. Spatial sound enhances the students to VR experience. The auditative feedback for interface elements such as button presses, main menu interface sounds and dragging objects into scene, has been improved. Further sound enhancements are ongoing.
With these additions, RescueSim continues to take the lead with the most advanced and user friendly incident training software currently available. Existing RescueSim customers will automatically receive this updated version.
